Vic Fangio, a Dunmore native, leaves Miami gig

The Miami Dolphins and defensive coordinator Vic Fangio have "mutually agreed to part ways" after the 2023 season, according to the team.

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. — Dunmore native and long-time NFL defensive coordinator Vic Fangio is out of a job—for now.

The Miami Dolphins and Fangio agreed to part ways on Wednesday.

Fangio spent one season in South Beach.

His impacts were immediate.

Miami gave up 100 fewer yards per game under Fangio than the last season.

His defense also finished third in the league in sacks.

There are reports Thursday morning from just about every major sports outlet that Fangio decided to leave Miami to pursue the same gig with none other than the Philadelphia Eagles.

The Eagles fired its defensive coordinator shortly after their season ended.

Fangio had flirted with the Eagles before taking the job with the Dolphins.

He served as a consultant for Philly as they prepared for the Super Bowl against Kansas City.
