Stroudsburg mayor charged with DUI

Slate Belt Regional Police say Michael Moreno's blood-alcohol level was more than twice the legal limit when found behind the wheel in September.

STROUDSBURG, Pa. — The mayor of Stroudsburg is facing DUI charges after running out of gas in Northampton County in September.

Slate Belt Regional Police said Michael Moreno was found in his vehicle around 3 a.m. on Monday, September 11, in Wind Gap.

Investigators say he failed a field sobriety test, and blood tests indicate Moreno's blood-alcohol level was more than twice the legal limit.

Moreno was charged on November 4. He is scheduled to be in court in January.

Moreno, 31, was appointed mayor of Stroudsburg in 2022 after Mayor Tarah Probst was elected to the State House of Representatives.

He was elected to serve a two-year term in November with 67 percent of the vote.
