Military flights over our area this weekend

Officials at the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Aiport say the flights are part of an exercise and are not a cause for concern.

LUZERNE COUNTY, Pa. — Flights of military helicopters in our area this weekend are not a cause for alarm, according to officials at the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Airport in Luzerne County.

A Facebook post from the airport on Friday said that about 70 military helicopters will fly through the airport's airspace on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday.

The aircraft are flying in small groups from the Rome, New York, area to their destination in the Philadelphia area.

The times of the flights will vary each day.

Airport officials emphasize that this is only an exercise, and there is no need for concern.
