Remains identified as missing Monroe County man

Remains uncovered at a property in Dreher Township near Newfoundland have now been identified as that of Stephen Lepore, who was reported missing in August of 2012.

WAYNE COUNTY, Pa. — Investigators now say remains found at a property in Wayne County belong to a Monroe County man who disappeared more than a decade ago.

The coroner has identified the remains found earlier this week near Newfoundland as Stephen Lepore.

Officials say he was shot in the head; his death has been ruled a homicide.

Lepore was last seen in August of 2012.

According to court papers, a former associate of Brian Hewson told police Hewson cut a deal with him to kill Lepore.

Earlier this week, Hewson told investigators where Lepore's remains could be found at a family member's property in Dreher Township.

So far, no arrests have been made.
