LUZERNE COUNTY, Pa. — A woman in Luzerne County faces child endangerment charges after allegedly leaving her kids alone for ten days.

Erica Skalsky, 38, of Wilkes-Barre, has been charged with five counts of endangering the welfare of children.

Plains Township police were contacted in July after reports of five juveniles in a residence without an adult for two weeks.

When police entered the home, it was filled with trash, moldy food, insects, and human waste on the floor.

Police found five kids on the second floor, ages 7, 8, 10, 11, and 14.

The children said Skalsky had not been home for two weeks or more. They are in protective custody after being taken to a hospital to be checked out.

Skalsky admitted to police she left the children unattended, but never for more than ten consecutive days.
