Video of toddler drum lesson going viral

An act of kindness during a Halloween parade in Schuylkill County caught on camera is going viral. Nearly a million views later, the families reunited in Pine Grove.

PINE GROVE, Pa. — Brandon Gibson has had a pair of drumsticks in his hand for as long as he can remember.

"My dad played drums when (I was) a kid, and while I was growing up, around the house, he would be playing drums, practicing for his band, and he basically gave me a drum set one day, and I bought into it," he said.

His dad, Ken Gibson, still gives him lessons as his band director at Pine Grove Area High School in Schuylkill County.

"Around here, he's been kind of famous on the drums but never like this ever before," said Ken.

At a Halloween parade in Saint Clair last week, Brandon shared his passion for the drums with Grayson, who watched in awe on the sidelines.

Angela Avalo shared the moment on social media and is still shocked at how many people have seen it.

Someone please make this young man seen!… i hope he grows up and becomes a member of the Philly Sports Drumline. In the middle of the halloween parade he stopped and gave my friends son a drumstick to give it a shot! What a gentleman… I feel kids don’t exist like this anymore but what can I say he’s a Philadelphia Phillies fan decked out in his Red October gear!! #phillies #redoctober #halloweenparade #saintclair #pinegrovehighschool #pa #lovethecostume #drumline #highschoolband #drummer

"There's about 100 likes a minute, and the views are 40,000 from a million," she said.

Grayson and his family were invited to Pine Grove Area High School for a special drum lesson from Brandon.

While Grayson's mom, Megan Bloom, is enjoying seeing her son become an internet sensation, she says she's happier seeing him as a member of the band.

"It's so cool to be able to see and experience that because that's the first time he's been around the drum," Bloom said.

Watching Grayson and Brandon in the band room reminds Ken of teaching his son at that age.

"Obviously, he's drawn to the drums. Just watching him, I can just see him going back and going back. So, I think it's awesome for a young person so small, music is already an interest in their life," Ken said.

Brandon hopes Grayson will one day take his place in the drumline.

Until then, there are plans to invite Grayson on stage to join the Pine Grove Area High School at their Rock N' Roll Christmas Concert in December.
