Cleaning up after the snow in Monroe County

From a light dusting to more than a foot of snow, Tuesday's storm brought varying accumulations throughout northeastern and central Pennsylvania.

MONROE COUNTY, Pa. — The grumble of snow blowers filled the streets of communities throughout Monroe County.

Ryan Kymer of D&T Landscaping has been dealing with the near-foot of snow that fell in Stroudsburg.

He started working at 4 a.m. Tuesday morning.

"I mean, it got wet once it started to warm up to 40 degrees, but earlier, it was decent, but now it's wet and heavy," said Ryan Kymer, D&T Landscaping.

Kymer says the backbreaking work is well worth it, as long as storms like this continue to come, "I wish we could get more of these storms But a little bit colder. Not enough storms this year, really, but you gotta deal with what you're given."

As the sun begins to set, the temperatures take a dip in the Poconos. The main concern for snow crews quickly goes from snowfall to ice.

"They should be mostly free of snow, but it's the ice that worries us, so we go back, and we'll check them again," said Kevin Brown, Farda Landscaping.

Kevin Brown and his crew from Farda Landscaping were wrapping up a long day of snow removal and preparing for a morning of salting once cold temperatures set in overnight.

"That's why we are putting salt down where we need to on the properties to prevent that the salt will help dry it up," said Brown.

Part of the job keeping workers like Brown out and about long after the snow is cleared, "Unfortunately, slips and falls happen in this type of weather. Not everyone is careful not everybody puts salt down like they need to. We put salt down where we need it, and that's why we constantly check our properties to prevent slips and falls," he said.

Both crews we spoke with plan to be out again early Wednesday, clearing the roads for the morning commute.
