LYCOMING COUNTY, Pa. — The Lycoming County commissioners plan to expand the county's landfill in Brady Township by acquiring nearby land from the federal government.
The county agreed to the $6.5 million deal on Thursday.
Lycoming County will get the property the landfill is on along Route 15 near Montgomery, along with acreage of the nearby Allenwood Prison Camp that was shut down in 2005. The county gets about 1,067 acres in total.
