Autopsy provides no clues in Luzerne County death

The body of Debra Fox was found near the North Cross Valley Expressway back in March.

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. — The death of a woman whose body was found in a wooded area of Luzerne County remains a mystery.

After an autopsy, the Luzerne County coroner says the cause and manner of death of Debra Fox are undetermined.

Fox's remains were found on March 26 in an area off the Exit 1 ramp of the North Cross Valley Expressway (Route 309) in Wilkes-Barre near the I-81 interchange.

Days after the body was found, investigators said Fox previously owned a house on Carlisle Street in Wilkes-Barre where a body was buried in the basement. Five people have been charged in that homicide case.

Authorities later said that they no longer believe Fox was involved.

Fox's children, Melissa and Danielle Fox of Minersville, had been searching for their mother after she moved out of the Carlisle Street residence.

Wilkes-Barre police say the investigation into Fox's death remains open.
