Man sent to prison for shooting death of girlfriend in Luzerne County

Scott Oliver was sentenced Monday for the deadly shooting of Jessica Romano in January of 2023.

LUZERNE COUNTY, Pa. — A man accused in the shooting death of his girlfriend has been sentenced to state prison.

Scott Oliver, 31, pleaded guilty to third-degree murder on Monday. He was immediately sentenced to 17 and a half to 40 years in state prison.

Investigators accused Oliver of shooting Jessica Romano, 35, on January 3, 2023, inside a home on Woodhaven Drive in Foster Township, between Freeland and White Haven. Romano died at the hospital.

Police found Oliver hiding in a vacant house near the crime scene the next day.
