LUZERNE COUNTY, Pa. — A Luzerne County man who spent years as a gymnastics coach will spend time in prison after admitting to child porn charges.
Andrew Neafie, 55, of Fairmount Township, was sentenced Thursday to 30 to 84 months in state prison. He pleaded guilty in November to one count of disseminating photos/video of child sex acts and one count of possession of child pornography.
Neafie was arrested in April of 2023 after investigators said he had uploaded and downloaded thousands of photos of children posed in sexually explicit ways.
According to court papers, Neafie initially denied having child porn on his computer but eventually admitted to having seen it through a site he believed was legal.
Neafie also told investigators that has been a gymnastics coach for decades, both in our area and in other states, but hasn't worked since January of 2023.
