The Blue Shutters

Creative Cuisine

MOSCOW, Pa. — THIS IS A PAID SEGMENT SPONSORED BY THE BLUE SHUTTERS
Home & Backyard visited The Blue Shutters for an amazing fine dining experience with a tradition of exceptional cuisine for nearly 100 years.

Chef Seamus Nealon prepared Chicken Casalinga.  Chef sautéed chicken breast, added roasted heirloom tomatoes, mushrooms, shallots, garlic, and his special marsala sauce.  It was served with  wild brown confetti rice and asparagus.

The Blue Shutters offers a spectacular menu featuring a hand cut steaks, exquisite salmon, pasta and other house specialties.  They also bake and prepare their desserts and breads in house. They offer a bistro menu and hand crafted cocktails and a nice selection of beer and mocktails.

In 1928 along an open stretch of the Lackawanna Trail between Scranton and Philadelphia, Kenneth Porter turned a small Civil War era building into a restaurant and antique shop called The Blue Shutters. Despite the onset of the Great Depression, the business survived, offering home-cooked meals, cocktails, big-band entertainment, overnight rooms, and even auto repair. Through the years the small restaurant was expanded with a porch, large dining room, and expanded kitchen. The restaurant spanned generations with several ownership changes. In 1950, Sam Phillips and his wife Catherine purchased The Blue Shutters and ran it for decades.

Today, The Blue Shutters continues a legacy of fine dining.
