Dutch Wonderland opens for the season in Lancaster

The amusement park in Lancaster opened for the season and already has various plans throughout the year, starting with Easter weekend.

LANCASTER, Pa. — In the middle of Pennsylvania Dutch country, there's a wonderland.

"We were actually voted the world's best family park 4 years in a row, so there are a lot of options for everyone," said Courtney Burkarth.

The park in Lancaster just opened for the season with its 'Eggcellent Easter celebration.'

"So it's full park hours, and we have egg hunts in the park, and there's crafts. You can make these giant spring flowers, which are really cute. The Easter bunny will be here, of course, and we'll have carrot cake funnel cake," added Burkarth.

The Easter bunny she's talking about is "Tuft." Through the end of April, people can schedule a dinner date with this bunny.

"We have Merlin's Pizza and pasta, where you can have unlimited pizza, pasta, salad, and dine with Tuft the bunny, get your pictures, and then go out and enjoy the park," said Burkarth.

Inside Dutch Wonderland, there are more than 30 rides, attractions, and shows to choose from.

"You don't have to deal with the typical crazy long lines for amusement parks and things that your toddlers can't really do like we are really geared towards families with young children," added Burkarth.

And there's no shortage of rides for the kids.

"You just have to be 30 inches and walking, and you can get on the train. We have those wonder whips, turnpike cars that you can drive," Burkarth said.

As the temperatures rise, Burkarth added that they'll open the water park Memorial Day weekend and throw a party for Duke the Dragon's birthday in June.

When the party is over, don't fret. There's plenty more excitement on the horizon.

"We have our Easter event and obviously the summer, but we also have events at Halloween and Christmas, so it's the park that you can visit almost year-round," added Burkarth.
