SCRANTON — A businessman from Susquehanna County who admitted to an illegal international trade scheme has been sentenced in federal court.
Harold Rinko, 74, of Hallstead, was sentenced to time served, 12 months of home confinement, a fine of $2,600, a term of supervised release of two years, and was ordered to forfeit $45,698 to the government.
Rinko pleaded guilty in 2014.
Prosecutors say Rinko used his company, Global Parts Supply in the Hallstead area, to acquire items to detect chemical weapons.
The feds say those items made their way to Syria, a country linked to terrorism.
