WEST BRUNSWICK TOWNSHIP -- A second child hurt in a wreck in Schuylkill County has now died.
A 6-year-old girl died shortly after Sunday's crash near Orwigsburg. Monday afternoon, her 3-year-old sister passed away.
The girls lived in Minersville and people who knew them remember them as fun-loving and full of energy.
Family members say Carianna was a kindergartener at Minersville Elementary and loved everything girly. Her sister Catrina was in a Head Start program and did gymnastics with her sister. Both girls went to daycare at Granny's Kinder Care in Minersville where their mother works and both girls loved Hello Kitty.
A makeshift memorial was started in front of the family's home in Minersville. Family members say Victoria Place is in good condition and should be released from the hospital later this week.
"It's devastating, to happen to kids that young, it just, horrible for anybody to go through," said Jan-Michael Colna of Minersville.
Neighbors just learning of the deadly crash say they're in shock.
"It's devastating. I have two kids of my own. I don't know, you know, what I would do," said Alicea Anthony of Minersville.
"Very nice girl. The kids were nice. We used to kid around with them a little bit," said Jeff Kline.
Kline owns the Main Street Sandwich Shop just across the street. He says he drove past the wreck on Route 61 and calls it one of the worst he's ever seen.
"There was a lot of car parts all over and then we went to Allentown and when we got home, one of the workers told me that it was the girl across the street."
Parents who live nearby say the Minersville community is a tight one, and will support Victoria Place and her family, offering support and love.
"God bless, to her and her family, I feel really bad for her," said Colna.
"Stay strong, there's really not much I can say, nothing's going to change what happened, but I'm sorry," Anthony added.
The 17-year old driver was taken to Schuylkill Medical Center. Troopers have not released his name or condition.
