UPDATE: Man, woman dead after shooting in Mount Pocono

Two people are dead after an early morning shooting in Monroe County and a man with a gunshot wound at the scene has been charged with homicide.

MOUNT POCONO, Pa. — Pocono Mountain Regional Police say they found a dead man and woman in a home in Mount Pocono early Friday morning, and another man with a gunshot wound at the scene has been charged with criminal homicide.

Police were called to Snowshoe Court in Mount Pocono around 2:30 a.m. Friday for reports of a man injured and acting strangely.

Pocono Mountain Regional Police went to the apartment where the 911 call came from and found Tyrone Johnson, 38, with a gunshot wound in his shoulder.

"Officers requested that Johnson come to the front door, at which time he relayed that he was injured and that he could not. Officers then made a cautious entry into the apartment and responded to the first bedroom, at which time they observed a male victim lying on the floor within that bedroom," said Pocono Mountain Regional Police Chief Chris Wagner.

That victim was Amir Moore, 28, from Carbondale. After a second and more thorough search of the apartment, they discovered the body of Amir's sister, Shadea Moore, 29, alongside the bed in that same bedroom.

"Once the bodies were discovered, we certainly started to investigate whether anybody had heard any gunshots. From that point on, we did start to get information that the resident who lives there that initially called the police; she had heard popping noises. She kind of wrote that off as fireworks. As facts began to evolve, we determined that it wasn't fireworks," said Chief Wagner.

Johnson was taken to a hospital by EMS with police to be treated for his injuries.

While in custody, police say Johnson admitted to shooting the victim and himself after using drugs.

The person who called 911 lives in the apartment with Shadea Moor and Tyrone Johnson, along with two children. They made it out safely with no injuries.

Johnson was charged Friday afternoon with criminal homicide, endangering the welfare of children, and firearms violations.
