Students take part in STEM design challenge

Students showed off their STEM skills on Tuesday, competing in the BLaST IU17 K'Nex STEM Design Challenge.

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. — In Lycoming County, more than 70 students participated in the BLaST IU17 K'Nex STEM Design Challenge.

Students had to create an agricultural robot or a different type of 'high-tech farming' equipment that Pennsylvania farmers could use.

"We really want students to learn how to fail and then recoup from that and then learn from that experience, and that is a huge part of STEM, is just learning how to do that piece, and that is something that we don't always get in the classrooms," said Mandi Fair, STEM, and Online Learning Specialist BLaST IU17.

The top three teams from each division will head to Harrisburg for the state competition on May 3rd.
