Restaurant fire in Luzerne County won't stop business as usual

Fire crews responded to Colarusso's Cafe along Main Street in Avoca around 7:30 a.m. Saturday.

AVOCA, Pa. — The basement of a restaurant burned Saturday morning in Luzerne County.

Crews responded to Colarusso's Cafe around 7:30 a.m.

Fire officials say the damage was contained to the basement. A dryer caught on fire there.

The Italian cafe and pizza restaurant can open as usual following the fire.

A fire chief tells Newswatch 16 the only complication here was that some companies were still on scene of the Foote Avenue fire in Duryea when reports of the basement fire came in, so response times were a little slower.

They were still able to get it under control quickly once there.

Video from Newswatch 16 shows a box of burned laundry taken out from the fire:

That restaurant fire is not considered suspicious here in Luzerne County.
