DALLAS -- For many people a trip to the grocery store is a weekly stop.
Mandy Murray of Dallas, the mother of three, finds herself at Weis Markets a few times a week.
"Grocery shopping is the least favorite thing on my list," Murray said.
Now she and shoppers at Weis Markets stores in Dallas, near Clarks Summit, and Mountain Top have the option to buy their groceries online. Those groceries can then be picked up within four hours.
The three stores makes 32 Weis Markets locations in Pennsylvania, New York, and Maryland that provide online shopping.
Stores like Gerrity's have offered online shopping for years.
Now Weis is expanding the service to Lackawanna and Luzerne counties.
"It's just another good option for our customers and ultimately when you're in today's supermarket business you're in the business of empowering your customers with choice," Dennis Curtin, director of Weis Markets public relations said.
Not everyone has tried online shopping so Newswatch 16 decided to try it out.
All you have to do is go to the online shopping section on the Weis website and add food to your cart.
Amber Silfee is the online shopping lead at the Weis Markets store in Dallas. Her work day is spent shopping for customers.
The device she uses allows her to find what shoppers want. The device will even tell her when an item isn't what the customer asked for.
"Yesterday we had six orders; today we have had five so far. I'm hoping it stays strong and it keeps getting better in the future," Amber Silfee said.
Moms like Jennifer Vallach who tried out online shopping said it's convenient.
"With the kids at the grocery store, it's just sometimes not the most convenient way. I just thought sitting at home in front of my computer and placing an order, it's an easier option," Jennifer Vallach said.
Weis Online Shopping allows customers to pay online through a secure PayPal system or at the store with curbside checkout.
The service is free for orders of $150 or more. Order under $150 have a $2.95 service fee.
Customers shopping online for the first time will have the service fee waived.
