Sixth person arrested for giving false information in Scranton homicide investigation

SCRANTON, Pa. — A sixth person has been arrested in connection to a homicide investigation in Lackawanna County. 

Blanca Mormolejo, 50, was arrested on Thursday by Scranton Police for allegedly providing false information to officers in the investigation of the fatal shooting that killed Robert Dawson, age 32, in April.

According to a press release, Mormolejo is accused of interfering with law enforcement attempts to apprehend the shooting suspect, Kenneth Tapia, age 17, who faces homicide charges and nonnegligent manslaughter, along with gun charges, tampering with evidence, and receiving stolen property.

Tapia and Kenneth Ford, age 18, among three other minors ages 15, 16, and 17, are arrested in the investigation. 

Mormolejo is charged with Felony Hindering Apprehension and Misdemeanor False Reports to Law Enforcement. 

She was arraigned and remains in custody at Lackawanna County Prison.
