Flames ripped through a rooming house in Lackawanna County, forcing several people out of their homes.
The fire started just after midnight Wednesday morning in the 1200 block of Mulberry Street in Scranton.
Flames were shooting from the roof of the place.
One person who lived there tells Newswatch 16 the fire extinguishers weren’t working but everyone made it out safely.
“I went to get fire extinguishers. None of the fire extinguishers worked so I just tried to evacuate everyone as fast as I can. I called 911, got the people out here to put the fire out, and this is where we stand,” said resident Bret Hedden.
The Red Cross is helping the victims.
Authorities are looking for the cause.
