SCRANTON -- Hundreds of motorcycles rolled through Lackawanna County to honor veterans.

The 14th annual Salute to Veterans Ride started with a packed parking lot at the Gino J. Merli Veterans' Center on Penn Avenue in Scranton.

The Rolling Thunder motorcycle group rallied the troops and all the money raised will go to residents of the veterans' center and organizers say it was one of the best turnouts yet.

"The record is 750. We had a full parking lot so we're hoping it is along those lines, hopefully more than that," said Jenna Fehr, Gino J. Merli Veterans' Center.

"To see what my future may hold, becoming a veteran myself, this is fantastic. I hope this always remains a part of this town," said SFC Joseph Matthews, U.S. Army.

The 40-mile ride took bikers all over Lackawanna County and wrapped up with a picnic with residents of the veterans' center in Scranton.
