NEPA Girls STEM Competition held in Lackawanna County

It was a competition of science, technology, engineering, and math in Lackawanna County on Saturday.

LACKAWANNA COUNTY, Pa. — The United Way of Lackawanna, Wayne, and Pike counties hosted the NEPA Girls STEM Competition at Valley View High School in Archbald.

More than 200 girls in 4th through 8th grade participated in the competition.

"The goal of the competition is to get girls interested at this young age so they continue that interest into high school, and hopefully, out into the field, we can increase the number of females interested in pursuing stem areas," said Marisa Barilka, competition coordinator.

This was the ninth year for the girls' STEM competition in Lackawanna County.
