LACKAWANNA COUNTY, Pa. — An excavator fell into a reservoir during a dam improvement project in Lackawanna County.
It happened Friday afternoon at Pennsylvania American Water's Curtis Reservoir in Madison Township near Elmhurst Township.
Pennsylvania American Water officials say a land subsidence occurred beneath the excavator, sending it into the water.
The operator made it out okay.
Reservoir Road is currently closed as Pennsylvania American Water and the Department of Environmental Protection's Division of Dam Safety work on a plan to stabilize the dam.
Officials don't expect any impacts to water quality as a result of the incident in Lackawanna County.
