10th annual 'Jog for Jude' held in Dunmore

Nearly 2,000 people came out to raise awareness for sudden infant death syndrome at the race in Lackawanna County.

DUNMORE, Pa. — Saturday marked the 10th annual "Jog for Jude" held at the Dunmore Community Center.

The run is held in memory of Jude Zayac, who passed away in 2012 from SIDS.

Jog for Jude is the area's only 5K race that raises money and awareness for SIDS.

Some students from Wilkes University heard about the race and wanted to join the cause.

"We brought up this 5K, running for a good cause, jogging for Jude, and we all thought it'd be a great idea to get out here and support," said Jesse Adesso of Wilkes-Barre.

"These kids never get an opportunity to do something like this. It's the right thing to do," said Brandon Sloan of Wilkes-Barre.

There were also activities after the race, such as bounce houses and face paintings, and a block party came a little later in Lackawanna County.
