Selling Girl Scout Cookies | Check It Out With Chelsea

This week, Newswatch 16's Chelsea Strub tagged along with a local Girl Scout Troop to see what it takes to sell their beloved cookies.

SCRANTON, Pa. — It's time to step on up and get out your cash because for Girl Scouts around America, it's Girl Scout cookie season.

Something  Brooklyn, Luna and Abby with Troop 58930 based in Taylor say takes a lot of talent.

"People skills, math skills, and confidence," said Luna Esty.

Luckily, these ladies have those bases covered.

"I have no problem talking to strangers, and my math skills, my math skills are fire," said Luna.

But help is around when it gets a little complicated.

Through this art of selling, these ladies also get a lesson in teamwork and how to face rejection head-on.

Each and every time a real-life example of the Golden Rule as they work hard to sell these cookies to fund their swimming and camping trips and other activities this summer.

"Like if they are not polite, we should still be polite to them," said Luna.

In the lulls, these ladies are learning another important skill, the art of patience. But after an hour and a half, exhaustion takes over.

And after dozens of sales, "I feel like I accomplished a lot, and I am like very tired," added Luna.

So, it's time to pack it up and prep for the next one.

Girl Scout cookies will be sold in our area until April 14th.
