Stafursky sisters add something special to Valley View softball

The Lady Cougars are hoping to make a run towards states with a strong team, that features a special pitcher-catcher duo.

ARCHBALD, Pa. — The Lady Cougars are on the prowl, taking down teams with their offense of mighty bats and strong pitching on defense.

Mia Wascura is in her first year coaching this team and says each player brings something special to the table.

"To be able to get this kind of level of athlete, I inherited this team. They believe in the culture of what I want Valley View softball to be," Wascura said.

Last year after a 22-2 season, Valley View lost in the first round of states to Northwestern Lehigh.  The majority of that team is back and hungry to make a run this year.

"The energy we have at every game, every practice, it's unimaginable, it's amazing. We play so well together and I would never want to play with any other team except this team," said junior Emily Moyles.

And then there's the dynamic duo of sisters Tessa and Allyson Stafursky.. The pitcher and catcher bring something extra to this team. Sharing the same DNA is like having the secret code to success.

"It's much easier to pitch to Ally because I've been pitching to her my whole life since I was little when I was dying when I started pitching, so it's just I'm much more confident and calm when I'm with her," said Tessa.

"We can't read each other's mind but we know we just know how each other's feeling and what's good, what's bad," Allyson said.

But Tessa and Allyson are only two thirds of the family's talent equation. Tessa and Allyson are triplets.  Sister Chloe, an athlete herself, running track.

"It's always crazy around the house because we're never home and we're always running around to practices and games and meets and everything," said Chloe.

Whether they're running to home plate or the finish line, it's triple the talent.  All of them are taking those talents to the collegiate level after graduation.

"I love seeing all of us strive for greatness and achieve it with our different sports," said Allyson.
