Pittston Area's pitch perfect Gianna Adams

Adams has four consecutive games pitching for the Patriots with either a no-hitter or a perfect game.

HUGHESTOWN, Pa. — Strike 1, strike 2, strike 3, you're out!  Pittston Area senior Gianna Adams has heard that a lot this season from the pitching mound.  The pitching ace throws heat, but stays calm and cool on the field, earning strikeout after strikeout.  Adams was on a roll and pitched a perfect game earlier this week against Crestwood.

"It is just one pitch at a time. That's what you have to think.  You have to know where you're going with the ball, like those couple bunts out there but other than that, you just want to relax and play as hard as you can," Adams said.

Adams is now 1 strikeout shy of earning 600 in her career.

Pittston Area head coach Frank Parente says her success comes from putting in the hard work.

"She's electric.  She was always fantastic, but she's taken it to a different level this year.  She wants to be great and she practices to be great," Parente said.

As if one perfect game wasn't enough, this is Adams' second this season.  She also posted two no-hitters. All of it, over the last four games in a row.

"I don't really think much about it, to be honest.  It feels great, it does, but if the balls is put in play, my team has my back and that's what really gives me the confidence to pitch," Adams said.

Adams isn't carrying the team alone.  The lineup is a mix of underclassmen and seasoned veterans, who put runs on the board  each game.  The team hopes to carry that momentum into the post season.

"We have singles hitters, we have power hitters, it's great.  I love that everybody gets a taste to be great," Parente said.

"We all build off of each other's success and that's really what we're working on this year.  Little steps toward the big picture," Adams said.

Adams has committed to Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh but is focused on her senior season at Pittston Area.. in the hopes of capping it off with a state championship.
