Valley View's run at a state title began after losing 2-1 to Big Spring in the 2012 state final, and it was freshman Clare Sebastinelli who provided the difference with a .513 batting average-tops on the team, and along with senior Anna McElroy they combined to hit 12 homeruns.

"Oh! There's no question Clare stepped up big for this team. We spend a lot of time in the off-season both in the summer, the fall, and even in the winter-yeah! I had an idea I knew what to expect but I did not expect as much as she gave this team this year," said EJ Weston.

Valley View started the season by beating Nanticoke 10-2, won another district title behind the arm of senior pitcher Gina Chieffallo, then made their run thru states four big wins and a convincing 5-0 victory over Ft. Leboeuf to finish with a perfect record of (25-0) and our team of the year.

"We're all like sisters. We're a huge family. We always joke that coach Weston is our dad, and coach Z is the mom. So we're a huge family everyone's like best friends," said Emma Thomson.

"It was probably one of the best feelings in the world. We work so hard for that and everyday we push ourselves to do better and better to get there and we did it," said Blayse Cholish.

As you can see from the sign the last state championship for the Valley View softball team was back in 2000, the 2013 sign should go up sometime at the start of the 2014 season and should include the #1 team in the state and a team ranked 25th in the country.

"It's kind of surreal, it's something that you only kind of dream about and to be considered that quality of a team is pretty special," added EJ Weston.
