WAYNE COUNTY, Pa. — A death investigation is underway in Wayne County after a man jumped into the Lackawaxen River late Sunday night, according to state police.

Troopers responded to a home along Maple Avenue in Texas Township around 10 p.m. after a neighbor reported a man physically assaulting a woman inside the home.

When state police arrived, the man, identified as Brandon Duclos, 28, of Brooksville, Florida, fled the home jumping into the nearby Lackawaxen River.

Troopers say Duclos went under the water and did not resurface, prompting a search and rescue response.

Dive teams from several agencies searched the water throughout the night but were unable to find Duclos.

On Monday afternoon, Duclos' body was found underwater, recovered by the Germania Scuba Team, and pronounced dead by the Wayne County Coroner's Office.

An autopsy Tuesday indicated that Duclos drowned accidentally.

The investigation into Duclos' death remains ongoing.
