TAMAQUA, Pa. — Firefighters rescued a woman trapped in a burning home Thursday morning in Schuylkill County.
Crews from several counties were called to the home on North Reilly Street in Tamaqua around 10 a.m.
Firefighters say they were able to rescue a female trapped inside the burning home. The victim was flown to a hospital. There is no word on her condition.
Tamaqua Assistant Fire Chief Jason Hartz said the first arriving crew was able to get the victim out.
"Anytime there's a house fire, you know, crews are anxious to get there and get it under control. A lot of these older homes, fires spread quickly and then when you're alerted of entrapment, it makes it even worse. It can't happen at a worse time for volunteers. Most people are at work," Hartz said.
The is no word on what started the fire.
