LEWIS TOWNSHIP -- Dr. Alan Hack is currently the assistant principal at Warrior Run Middle School near Turbotville. But on July 1, he will become the youngest school superintendent in Pennsylvania.

"I just turned 30 about a month ago," Hack said.

Last week, the Warrior Run School Board voted unanimously to hire Hack as superintendent. The district's current superintendent took a job with the Central Susquehanna Intermediate Unit. Hack started his career as a math teacher. Four years ago he came to Warrior Run to be assistant principal at the middle school.

Now he's set to become the youngest superintendent in Pennsylvania.

"The fact that I'm the youngest I think is fairly neat, but there's a job to be done," Hack said.

Dr. Hack tells Newswatch 16 he believes his age actually helped play a role in him getting the job as superintendent.

"When I had interviewed with the board, I said this feels very much at home to me and I really would like to stay in the district," Hack said.

Some parents we spoke with did not know how old Dr. Hack is, but they feel strongly he will be a good superintendent no matter his age.

"You can tell that when you talk with him that he's truly here for the kids and that's what I like about him," Denise Kilgus said.

"My current eighth grader has been in the middle school for four years and I'll tell you what, Dr. Hack is phenomenal. My son has ADHD and he's really helped a lot in the last four years," Melissa Temple said.

Dr. Alan Hack becomes superintendent of the Warrior Run School District on July 1 and has a five-year contract. One of his first big jobs will be to lead the district's elementary school consolidation project.
