SUNBURY, Pa. — Ashia Harrington spent part of her morning styling a customer's hair extensions at her new salon, Entrigued Beauty LLC. She opened the salon in Sunbury two months ago and says it provides a much-needed service to the community.
"This area has become more and more of people coming from larger cities, so they feel lost when they first get here, like hey this is away from home. So now I'm bringing home to them," Harrington said.
Entrigued Beauty LLC is Sunbury's first textured hair salon, but Harrington styles all hair types. She also carries products specifically for Afro-textured and coily hair.
"It's all-natural ingredients blended together into one to capture a lot of different things to help your hair grow, to help dry scalp," added Harrington.
Harrington was born in Patterson, New Jersey, and moved to Sunbury in 2004. She's been doing hair since she was 12 years old.
"I just always did my friends, my family's hair and everything. So that just kind of stuck with me, and here I am today, my own salon," Harrington said.
"She has a lot, just everything," Isaac Moten of Sunbury said.
People in the Sunbury community are happy the salon is here.
"It's amazing. She's been working hard all these years. She's been struggling to make it here, and it's just a big blessing for her and the community out here," Moten said.
Harrington enjoys meeting different people. She says sometimes parents have different hair types than their children.
"A lot of the mothers are a little confused about how to handle the different textures that's different from their texture. I'm here to help and capture those struggles that they've been having for a long time here," Harrington said.
Entrigued Beauty LLC is located at 8 North 5th Street in Sunbury.
