NUMB BABY MARY MARKER

SHAMOKIN DAM — People in central Pennsylvania have replaced a special grave marker that was removed from the grave of an infant, murdered by her mother in Northumberland County.

A new bronze plaque is now on the grave of “Baby Mary.”

The marker that was on the grave was taken last year.

In 2001, the newborn was killed by her mother Tracy Dupre.

Baby Mary’s death led to the creation of Pennsylvania’s Safe Haven Law. It allows parents to legally abandon their babies at designated drop off spots.

The new plaque was paid for by donations. It cost nearly $1,700. About $400 remaining in donations was given to the Child Advocacy Center.
