Florists busy for Mother's Day Weekend

Mother's Day is coming up, and it's one of the busiest weekends for florists.

DANVILLE, Pa. — Mother's Day is right around the corner, and that means it's extra busy at flower shops. It's all hands on deck at Scott's Floral and Gifts in Danville. Owner Scott Edwards says Mother's Day marks 50 years in business for his store, and it's also the busiest time of year.

"We have two drivers on today. We have three drivers on tomorrow, and then starting Friday, we'll have four. And then on Saturday, we'll have five. Saturday is our busiest day. And then we will also deliver on Sunday," Edwards said.

Along with Mother's Day Weekend, there are also other events Edwards is providing flowers for. He was making corsages when Newswatch 16 stopped by.

"Bloomsburg University's graduation, Bucknell's graduation, we've got some jubilees for the nuns here in Danville, a big open house and a groundbreaking was yesterday," Edwards said.

Bright and colorful are the top requests for Mother's Day flowers.

"It used to be shades of pink, and we still do a lot of plants, but bright and colorful fresh arrangements are the number-one seller," Edwards said.

Annabelle Rapp of Paxinos picked up four bouquets for Mother's Day.

"I have some really superior mother figures in my life, and I just wanted to show them that I'm super grateful for them every single day, especially on Sunday," Rapp said.

Edwards recommends people order early to get the best selection.
