BARRETT TOWNSHIP -- For almost two weeks, Eric Frein, the accused cop killer who police say ambushed the state police barracks at Blooming Grove the night of September 12th has been able to elude police.

Now on Day 13 the search focus is shifting slightly once again from Price Township back to Barrett Township with the perimeter now reaching the village of Mountainhome.

Both townships surround Frein`s home in Canadensis where police say he lived with his parents.

People here say it`s been non-stop activity since police learned Frein`s identity.

“They were here every day since then, everyday, helicopters, snipers, military, everybody was here every day,” said Joanne Bary of Canadesis.

Police describe Frein as a survivalist who played military war games.

Police recently found in the woods Serbian cigarettes and soiled adult diapers, evidence they believe that Frein had been able to live in one location for an extended time.

Police do say that officers have spotted Frein and K9`s have picked up his scent but that trail is being lost due to water crossings and terrain conditions.

“We don`t know if this guy`s shifting back and forth, they don`t know, they`re bouncing back and forth, hopefully they catch this guy soon,” said Robert Bary of Canadensis.

Last week, the search in this neighborhood intensified as police seemed to be closing in directly on the area of Frein`s house.

That effort turned up empty.

“Friday morning, Friday afternoon, helicopters crested the roof,” said Joanne. “Then I had a sniper on my roof, and then we had 22 guys lined up right here by these woods and then they just started going in with canines.”

State Police say they have not reduced any man power in this search.

They ask residents to keep items on their property such as campers and shed locked and secure.
