SMITHFIELD TOWNSHIP -- We are coming up on the last weekend before Christmas and whether you hit the grocery stores or the malls places will be busy.
The Pocono resorts are also busy getting ready to host guests who enjoy vacationing in the mountains.
They want you to know they also cater to the local folks.
The halls are decked and the yule logs are burning inside Shawnee Inn and Golf Resort near Delaware Water Gap.
While there are many people staying over for the holidays, Shawnee is also opening their doors to their neighbors as well.
Especially residents who visit the resort as part of their Christmas tradition.
"I come every year to see the nativities from all around the world," said April Prinzo of Marshalls Creek.
She's talking about dozens of nativity scenes set up outside the lobby. Nativity scenes from Cambodia to the Philipines are set up on tables. Each one with a unique look.
"I think they add a few new ones each year. Then I forget some of them. So for me, it's like seeing them all over again," said Prinzo.
"For us, this is a stop for the holidays," said Joe Prinzo of Marshalls Creek.
The Nativity scene display is just part of what Shawnee Inn and Golf Resort offers its neighbors.
If you head down the road to their playhouse, there's another treat.
"This is our 35th annual Messiah sing in. It's something we do every year at Christmas time," said Midge McClosky, the Executive Director of Shawnee Playhouse.
Once guests arrive at the Shawnee Playhouse, they're given a musical score and then they're asked to donate $8 dollars. That money will go to the orchestra and professional singers. Then guests are asked to sit in their vocal section.
"You have the alto's in the front, the sopranos, the tenors and the basses. The orchestra is on stage then the soloists will go up and sing as well. Everyone sings the chorus part. You walk in with your spouse, but you separate, sit in your voice part and you have a good time with your other singers around you," said McClosky.
As for other resorts, at the Inn at Pocono Manor has its "Magical Fireside Christmas" event, held all weekend long and into next week. The event has Santa, arts and crafts for kids and a bonfire to roast marshmallows.
If you're looking to do some last-minute shopping, Downtown Stroudsburg businesses will be open as well.
