TUNKHANNOCK TOWNSHIP -- State and local police in the Poconos are looking for two men they say entered a home in Tunkhannock Township and shot a man in both of his legs.
The suspects are still on the run and neighbors who live in the area were told to stay inside.
It was just before 1 p.m. Tuesday that several state and local police and a helicopter started searching the area of Emerald Lakes in Pocono Township for two men dressed in black wearing red bandannas.
It was those men police say entered the home and shot a man in his legs.
Helicopters, K-9 units, state and local police were blocking off and searching this wooded area of Emerald Lakes in Tunkhannock Township, looking for two men they say came into a home on Glade Drive and shot a 23-year-old man in both of his legs.
"Male actors, dressed in black had entered the front door of the residence and asked the male to get on the ground," said Pocono Mountain Regional Police Chief Chris Wagner. "When he did not comply, he was then shot twice. They then rummaged through the house and exited through the rear doors of the residence."
Police say the two men were also wearing red bandanas.
James Goodline saw two men matching the description just minutes before police arrived walking on the street while he was driving home.
"I saw two black males in hoodies and jeans dragging a bag. I just caught it out of the corner of my eye, just seen it. I mean, I was doing 20, 25 mph and I thought it was strange but I just kind of blew it off, you know, went to the dump and came back."
A woman was also inside the home at the time of the invasion. She got away unharmed.
Police are still looking for a motive for the home invasion.
"At this point through some of the statements we have is that there is no connection. Obviously, we will continue to investigate and come up with any type of motive that may be out there."
While the suspects are still on the run, neighbors are staying vigilant.
"This is worse than bad," said Robert Young. "Especially where I live, it's a nice development. It's nice here but you never know when, how, where, or what."
No arrests have been made yet.
Residents in this area are asked to keep their doors locked and report any suspicious activity to police immediately.
