MOUNT POCONO — A man has been arrested for an attempted robbery in Mount Pocono.
Police say Ahmed Darwish, 27, of Mount Pocono tried to steal money from a Weis supermarket in the borough last month.
Investigators said on August 17, Darwish told a cashier at Weis he had a gun. When confronted by another employee, he pulled out a large butcher knife.
Darwish was charged with attempted robbery, aggravated assault, simple assault, theft, and related charges.
He was taken into custody at the Monroe County Courthouse after he was sentenced on another case. He is locked up in the Monroe County jail on $250,000 bail.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for September 15.
