Making sure everyone is bundled up this winter in Williamsport

An organization in Williamsport wants to make sure no child or adult goes without a coat this winter.

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. — Inside the Castellano Center along Park Avenue in Williamsport is an organization known as Family Promise.

The organization wants to make sure the community is bundled up this winter.

"It is starting to get cold, and we are seeing an increase of people coming in, especially for kids clothes just to keep them warm," said Patty Fox, Family Promise volunteer.

The community closet here has hundreds of free jackets for people and families in need.

"All age ranges. Infant and up to size 3x in adults. We have a wide variety," said Fox.

There are also blankets, gloves, scarves, hats, and more to keep you warm this winter. The organization is always looking to add more winter clothes to its selection. Donations are accepted.

"A woman came in and brought her daughter's coat that she had grown out of, and she said, 'I want to donate this. Will you let me trade it for one that fits here now?' and that was really touching. So, she not only took, but she gave," said Fox.

In addition to winter items, Family Promise also offers traditional clothing, food, furniture, and many other items families might need. There are just a few rules you have to follow when you visit.

"For the clothing closet and the food pantry, they have to bring photo ID, and they can come by once every thirty days," reminds Fox.

Family Promise's free closet and free pantry is open Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Castellano Center in Williamsport.
