LYCOMING COUNTY -- Nancy Wentzler's home hasn't always been as close as it is to the Loyalsock Creek.

"Right about where that debris from the guard rail is about where the creek bed used to be," Wentzler told Newswatch 16 as she pointed out where the creek is now.

Nancy lives near Montoursvillle and last week's flood swallowed up nearly 70 feet of her backyard!

"I took the dog and the cat and just evacuated, not knowing if we would come back to the house that was now sliding into the Loyalsock because it was eroding quite rapidly," she said.

Because of those fast moving flood waters the Wallis Run Bridge is now a piece of debris and crumbled in the water.

The same night a Sunoco pipeline ruptured. Both are just yards away from Nancy's home.

With large trees pulled right from their roots during that storm, Nancy has now put up barriers to make sure people know her backyard is not safe. She thinks it's partially due to all of the construction going on across the creek.

"They rerouted or closed off part of the stream. By closing off part of the stream they have rerouted all of the water coming from Wallis Run and Loyalsock," Wentzler said.

The Department of Environmental Protection says the rocks were put in the water temporarily so Sunoco crews could get closer to the repair site.

Nancy says since the rocks were put in, she's had about 10 more feet of property disappear into the creek.

"It's a tough situation, and it can't be made worse by the actions that people are doing. I mean they have to take into account what's happening here. We're trying to be patient, smelling the gas and saying okay, that's all part of the business here but someone has to take into account the affect they are having on people down here."
