The show goes on at F.M. Kirby Center in Wilkes-Barre

After the center experienced flooding back in 2023, the theater returned with all new shows in Downtown Wilkes-Barre.

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. — From flooding to fame.

The F.M. Kirby Center in Downtown Wilkes-Barre experienced some devastating floodings in 2023, but that's not stopping the theater from entertaining the masses.

"The highest of highs, the lowest of lows, where we had the flood, but we had these amazing shows to close out the year, Sal Vulcano selling out, we had Chevy Chase selling out, we had this amazing cabinet show for New Year's," said Niel Prisco, Director of Marketing at F.M. Kirby.

Which sets the stage for 2024.

"On January 18th, we have Puppy Pals, which is a comedic stunt dog show, they were featured on America's Got Talent. This is a great program for the entire family to come and see," added Prisco.

The dogs doing tricks on this tour are all rescues, which inspired the F.M. Kirby to give back.

"A donation from all the proceeds that we get from that show is going to Blue Chip to help local rescues, and as well, we're going to have tables set up around the area, supporting different local area businesses that deal with rescues and different pets," Prisco stated.

Prisco shared some rocking-out-style shows coming soon in the theater.

"At the end of the month, we have Big Head Todd and the Monsters, for anyone like me, who grew up in the '90s, this is an amazing show, it's really exciting if you remember the song Bittersweet, great '90s alternative rock, this band sells out red rocks every time they go, and we're so excited, they never come to the Northeast, we were able to get them here for this tour," he said.

Looking for laughs? Comedian Leanne Morgan is taking the stage on January 27th. The performance is almost sold out.

"A lot of great comedians have come through the Kirby before they go to the arenas. You saw Burt Kreischer was here, Tom Segura was here, and now we have acts like Leanne Morgan," Prisco added. "You want to see them when you get a chance in an intimate venue here, like the Kirby."

In addition, to live shows, there will be some old-school flicks on the big screen. Like the Molly Maguires on January 19th.

"$3 dollars for a matinee, $5 dollars for an actual evening show, you can't beat that ticket price, and you get to see these classic films on this massive screen which is bigger than a lot of screens in a lot of other movie theaters," Prisco expressed.

You can find a schedule of all the upcoming events at the F.M. Kirby Center.
