Police: Bank robber nabbed in Luzerne County

Police responded to a robbery at the PNC bank in Mountain Top on Friday morning.

LUZERNE COUNTY, Pa. — A 40-year-old man wanted for bank robbery in Luzerne County was caught early Saturday morning in Wilkes-Barre, police said.

Christopher J. Quinlan, of Mountain Top, was stopped by officers at 3 a.m. and arrested for allegedly robbing a PNC Bank on South Mountain Boulevard on Friday morning, Fairview Township Police Chief Dennis Monk said in an email.

Quinlan is jailed at the Luzerne County Correctional Facility in lieu of $100,000 bail. He faces charges of robbery, terroristic threats, simple assault and theft.

Authorities have not disclosed the amount of money he is accused of stealing.

Police said surveillance footage from the bank branch helped them identify Quinlan as the robber. They have had run-ins with Quinlan in the past.

Public court filings show the Fairview Township police last arrested him in 2018 for carrying a firearm without a license.
