SCRANTON, Pa. — A former preparer from Scranton has pleaded guilty to mail and tax fraud.
In 2014, investigators say Donald Royce, 45, who now lives in Florida, gave customers a copy of their return that showed the correct refund amount but submitted fraudulent returns to the IRS that increased the refund amount.
He kept the difference, totaling more than $250,000.
