JESSUP -- One teenager is dead and two more people are badly hurt after a crash in Lackawanna County.
The 15-year-old boy was a student at Valley View High School.
The police say he was in the back seat of an SUV that crashed Wednesday night in Jessup.
Police say it happened around 10 p.m. Wednesday on Valley View Drive. The Cadillac Escalade swerved going down the hill, hit the guide rail, fell about 300 feet down an embankment, and then burst into flames.
The Lackawanna County coroner confirmed that the victim was Austin Bumbarger, 15, of Peckville. He was not wearing a seat belt.
He was a student at Valley View High School.
EMTs tell us Bumbarger was found about 60 feet from the SUV.
Two teenage girls also in the SUV were wearing seat belts and suffered some injuries.
Police say the girls climbed up the embankment to get help.
Many Valley View students came to look at the scene Thursday morning after they heard a fellow student was killed.
We are told that Valley View School District is planning to remember Austin at the high school graduation Thursday night.
