SCRANTON -- It's been a busy day for the Pennsylvania American Water company.  There were seven water main breaks Sunday and overnight all in the city of Scranton.

Dozens of homes and businesses are without service.

Four broken water mains are fixed. Three, including one on Glen Street, near the old Scranton Lace Factory, are not.

The force of the water from the broken main buckled the pavement and forced the city to close the street.

Mulberry Street was closed from 8 p.m. Sunday to about 6 a.m. Monday due to yet another broken water main. Repairs were made, the road was patched, and traffic is moving once again.

Pennsylvania American says an issue at a pressure regulating station caused high water pressure in the system, resulting in all those water main breaks.

The breaks at Dorothy and Delaware Streets were repaired by 3 p.m. Monday, according to Pennsylvania American Water. They hope to have the break at Glen Street fixed by Monday night.

Water tankers are available in the areas affected.
