Scranton closing floodgates as a precaution

The rising Lackawanna River has prompted city officials to close the city's floodgates as a precaution

SCRANTON, Pa. — Floodgates in the city of Scranton were closed Monday morning as a precaution against the rising Lackawanna River, city officials said.

Gates were closed at:

  • Olive Street
  • Albright Avenue
  • Poplar Street
  • Parker Street
  • Sanderson Avenue

City officials cautioned that the gate closures would affect travel through Scranton.

There is no word on how long the gates will be closed.
