Raising the flag in Scranton

As the city prepares for St. Patrick's Day, groups gathered to raise the Irish flag Sunday.

SCRANTON, Pa. — The City of Scranton is getting ready for Saint Patrick's Day, and for parade day next weekend.

The Irish flag was raised this afternoon at the Lackawanna County Courthouse.

Members of the Irish Cultural society, Ancient Order of Hibernians, and several other groups were there with bag pipers.

There were even some from Ireland at the flag raising, here to visit family.

"It's fantastic to see so many Irish out here today and so many wearing the color of our flag, and everywhere we go in the us we always find an Irish community and they always make us feel so welcome." said Eimear Callaghan from Ireland.

Scranton's Saint Patrick's Day parade will take place this Saturday.
