Two arrested in Scranton following gunshot

Police responded to the 1100 block of Capouse Avenue around 7:30 p.m. Monday.

SCRANTON, Pa. — A woman fired a handgun into the air Monday night in Scranton during a spat with an ex-boyfriend, police in Lackawanna County alleged.

According to a criminal complaint, Daisy Tozzi admitted to police she fired a round in the 1000 block of Capouse Avenue around 7 p.m., and told them they could find the gun inside a shoebox in a friend's room.

Tozzi and her ex-boyfriend, Abdiel Pagan, got into an argument and Pagan allegedly punched her in the face, police said. Tozzi's right eye was injured, officers noted.

The police rushed to the area when two nearby officers heard the crack of a gunshot.

They performed a "high-risk stop on a vehicle" and started to investigate, police said in a brief statement issued Tuesday morning. They also found a bullet casing.

Tozzi, 29, of Tobyhanna, is charged with terroristic threats, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person and possessing an instrument of crime. She is jailed at the Lackawanna County Prison in lieu of $10,000 bail.

Pagan, 20, of Scranton, faces charges of simple assault and harassment. He was released on $5,000 unsecured bail.

Both are due back in county Central Court on April 29 for a preliminary hearing.
