Lackawanna County men serve alongside each other in first for Pa. American Legion leadership

For the first time ever, the commander of the statewide American Legion, who is from Scranton, was joined by a second vice commander, also from Lackawanna County.

SCRANTON, Pa. — It was a night to celebrate in downtown Scranton.

The annual statewide American Legion dinner was held at the Hilton on Adams Avenue on Saturday evening.

American Legion members from all over Pennsylvania were there, and the local connection is fairly large.

The commander and the second vice commander are both from Lackawanna County.

This was the first time two of the highest-ranking state positions have been held by people hailing from Lackawanna County.
